  1.        I.   INTRODUCTION


What Is Railway Station?
A railway station or railroad station and often shortened to just station, is a railway facility where trains regulary stop to load or unload passengers and/or freight/good

Purpose of a Railway Station
A railway station is provided for one or more of the following purposes :

 (a)  To entrain or detrain passengers
 (b) To load or unload goods or parcels
 (c)  To control the movement of trains
 (d) To enable trains to cross each other in the case of a single-line section
 (e)  To enable faster trains to overtake slower ones

Building And Complementary Facilities

A. Complementary Building

Can be either permanent construction or steel / iron construction such as:

Watchtower
A tower building that functions as a place to oversee the state or track situation in the station emplacement and control from the train - train that will enter the station and which will exit / leave the station.

Bridge of Locomotive Players
A construction with a certain shape that resembles a track, but the tool can rotate the locomotive by 180 so that the direction of the locomotive changes according to need.

Facilities for Container or Freight Goods
Facilities include storage warehouses for goods transport, open storage and CFS (Container Freight Station) for container load and storage tanks for liquid loads.

                 II.            Good Station

The world's first Goods terminal was the 1830 Park Lane Goods Station at the South End Liverpool Docks. Built in 1830 the terminal was reached by a 1.24-mile (2 km) tunnel, and closed on 15 May 1972. Jakarta Warehouse Station is one of the old enough station in Indonesia. Jakarta Warehouse Station is located in Ancol, Pademangan, North Jakarta. It is located on Jalan Kampung Bandan. This station operates for freight trains, such as containers, parcels, packets of goods, and so forth. The freight trains also accept the delivery of electronic goods such as computers and televisions, to the standard packaging required by PT. KA Logistics. In addition, Cargo Trains also accept shipments of both motorized and manual vehicles such as racing bikes and motorcycles.

  



                       IV.            TRAIN STATION IN INDONESIA



A.    Station Semarang Warehouse / Tambaksari Station (1864)

         The station was built on June 16, 1864 which was inaugurated by Governor-General                   Baron Sloet van de Beele.



B.     Lempuyangan Station (1872) 

Lempuyangan Station (code: LPN, +114 m asl) is a railway station located in Yogyakarta
City, about 1 km east of the main station of this city, Yogyakarta Station


C.     Malang Kotalama Station (1879)

      This station is the southernmost railway station located in Malang City, and the oldest built in 1879. The addition of the name "Kotalama" is meant to differentiate with the Station Malang Kota Baru built later.


                                V.            THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE WORLD RAILWAY STATION

1.      Gare de Liège-Guillemins, Belgia

Designed by architect Santiago Calatrava, it is one of Belgium’s busiest stations and is used by about 15.000 people every day.


2. Gare do Oriente, Portugal
Designed by architect Santiago Calatrava, the station was built in 1998 as a transportation route for Lisbon World Exhibition


3. King's Cross Railway Station, England

      Designed by architects Lewis Cubitt, William Cubitt and John McAslan + Partners, this building has an important function in Harry Potter's novel by J.K. Rowling - Platform 9 3/4, the starting point of Hogwarts Express departure, located at the station.
